What is Taoism?

Introduction
I didn't really know much about Taoism until I researched it in a project that focused on the world religions. Taoism is a very popular religion in fact. The Taoism symbol is the Ying-Yang sign that most of you might or might not know. The Ying-Yang sign symbolizes good and evil make a unity. They live together but they still have their differences. To the right you will see a picture of the Ying-Yang symbol.

Founder
Taoism doesn't have a single founder. Instead it continuously changes. People practice through the sacred texts. The sacred texts also changes over time with the rest of the religion.

Holy books/sacred texts
Also they have two holy books or sacred texts. They are called Tao Te Ching and
Chuang-Tzu, I know, they spell it weird. The books change over time with the religion because no one founded it and no one follows the exact customs and rituals of the religion. To the left you will see a piece of the Chuang-Tzu.

Followers/Places around the world
They have about 20 million people that say they follow it or that say that they belong to it or known as Taoists. They are mainly found in China. Well South Asia. The Taoism religion is popular in China as you can tell. But you might find some Taoists in other places, but not that many. Taoists live a peaceful, happy, and energetic life. By living by the sacred texts they live in a peaceful environment where they can meditate and channel their energy. They also cherish their ancestors as the ancient chinese religion does.

Appearance/Hierarchy
They typically where a very colorful robe for the most part of their appearance. They don't shave their heads like in cartoons and in Buddhism. They hierarchy in the Taoist religion is the sage. The sage is the pope to christianity and a monk to Buddhism. They are all the most important person in the religion besides the gods.

Holidays
Taoists celebrate the same holidays as the regular chinese do. At least I think so. Well they celebrate the chinese new year, the lantern festival, tomb sweeping day, and the ghost festival.

Why do some students think that school is a waste of time?

Most students in high school, doesn't matter what grade, really do think that school is a waste of time. On the other hand, some students take the time to study and get good grades to get into a good college. Sure sometimes more than others, students strongly dislike school on a regular basis. I understand where they are coming from. You might have plans during the day that are ruined by the school schedule. Trust me when I say this... it happens to everybody. Think about that for a while. Maybe you want to skip school to see your boy/girlfriend and you can't get out of the high school because you have no reason to. School is the top priority for right now because the grades that you get in high school determine what college that you get into. It also determines your future in the outside world. Most of us don't really realize that the outside world, not including a minor job to pay for gas, is a lot harder than you would expect. Thats why some parents are trying to cut back on a few things, just to save money. Try your hardest in school for those reasons. You will succeed in the future if you do. You might get a good lived life out of the high school years that you spend. You never know. You might even get to go to another country. Or maybe around the world. Like I said earlier, your future is up to you. No one can tell you your future or make your future for you and do not, I mean do not, listen to those stupid fortune tellers. You have a better chance of winning the lottery than those fake people. They just scam you. But anyway, with our economy now-a-days you don't want do get into a bad job. Instead imagine greater, bigger, better things for you in your future to work for as new long-term goals.
